What is up with this site?

If you are wondering why this site looks like this then you have come to the right page!

This site follows a minimalist philosophy. Meaning this site doesn't use any bloated frontend languages and just sticks to mainly html, php and mysql. I also stay away from javascript (using no javascript at all on this site) as I'd like to keep my website functional by default for people that use javascript blockers for privacy reasons or people that are using tor. To be clear I have no problem with other web frontend languages (or anything of the sort) but, for me, I like to keep it simple (it saves a lot of headache and pages load fast!).

If it wasn't implied above. I dont care about your data, where you're from or whatever is hiding in your browser's history. So I don't collect anything from you. It's my belief that all pages/online resources should follow a no data policy, but the more I think about it the more depressing our current reality becomes. So I opt not to use these services as much as I can (it's still a work in progress).

Anyway... That is why my page looks like it's from the 90's. Cool?

Why create a website?

I created this website as mainly a way to move away from social media. And for fun as well! It's also a way to have an actual presence online.

To talk about owning a website, you should do it too if you don't have one yet. Even if you don't have any functional programming experience it's worth it (I'm quite a noob at web dev myself). The learning of actual html will come as you try and make your site. I suggest you get a domain (real cheap, like $2 a year) and a vps. If a vps is too much (it is for me) https://neocities.org/ or https://tilde.club/ are a great options or if you are more technically inclined self hosting is also a fun option. If you don't know what you would put on a website thats fine just start making something and it can be a lot of fun. Also one of the great things about the internet is that you can just make your own space on it. Instead of having all your data, ideas and art controlled by one centalized company all of it can be your own with a website. And instead of linking social media accounts, where people need to login to see what you're up to, have to interact with that sites bloated UI and give their private data away for free. They can just type in a url and see exactly what you're about.
